“A low-cost answer to a problem that [the DoT] has been working on for decades.”
Diana Furchtgott-Roth | Former Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Department of Transportation

The team behind Tern
Tern is not another product from a tech company looking to use AI just for the sake of using AI. Our software is the brainchild of two people with diverse professional backgrounds who recognized a real-world problem and set out to create a practical solution—utilizing the strength of technology that’s at our fingertips.
Co-founder Brett Harrison realized the dangers of lost satellite signal when he was deployed in Afghanistan in 2014, where getting lost could be life-threatening. GPS’s vulnerabilities have since become a major national security concern. But technology has also advanced over the last decade, enough to help correct for these shortcomings.
Knowing this, Brett reached out to Shaun Moore, who founded another successful company utilizing AI. They assembled a team of professional navigators and AI experts—some of whom had been involved in creating the fastest facial recognition software in the world—to create IDPS™. The software has since been stress tested over thousands of miles, offering the first genuinely marketable alternative to satellite navigation.
